Groton Area's Fliehs wins, medalist honors, Roncalli takes second in Sioux Valley Invite
BRANDON — Watertown High School's boys golf team opened with a 315 and is in fourth place after Monday's 18 holes of play in the season-opening Warrior-Lynx Invitational.
Eighteen teams opened play with 18 holes Monday at the Brandon Golf Course, with the final 18 set to be played Tuesday at Bakker Crossing Golf Course in Sioux Falls.
Harrisburg fired a 12-over 296 to take a three-shot lead over Pierre (299). Sioux Falls O'Gorman was third at 307, followed Watertown, Brandon Valley (317), Mitchell (321), Sioux Falls Lincoln (329), Yankton (335), Spearfish (343), Brookings (347), Rapid City Central and Sioux Falls Jefferson (348), Aberdeen Central (358), Brandon Valley No. 2 and Rapid City Stevens (361), Sioux Falls Washington (369), Sioux Falls Roosevelt (375) and Brandon Valley (416).
Taten Mauney of O'Gorman grabbed a three-shot lead with a 3-under 68.

Sioux Valley Invitational
VOLGA — Groton Area's Brevin Fliehs won medalist honors and Flandreau edged Aberdeen Roncalli by six shots for the team title Monday in the Sioux Valley Boys Golf Invitational at the Meadow Creek Golf Course.
Flandreau fired a 337 to win the six-team tourney. Roncalli was second at 343, followed by Sioux Valley (345), Groton Area (349), Milbank (361) and Redfield (412). Sisseton and Tiospa Zina did not field complete teams.
Fliehs fired a 76 to win individual honors by one shot over Kaden Burshiem of Flandreau. Flandreau golfers Jon Burshiem and Alfie Henderson each shot 81s and Roncalli's Finn Anderson rounded out the top 5 with an 82.
