The greatness of Larry Bird, Boston Celtics legend
Hall of Fame Boston Celtics forward Larry Bird‘s greatness is often overlooked as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Bird’s unique skill set and basketball IQ set him apart from other players. Despite not being the most athletic player, Bird’s skill on the court was unparalleled.
Bird’s dominance in the 1980s, particularly his playmaking, offensive rebounding, and shooting, was unparalleled. Bird’s work ethic and hustle, including his willingness to dive for loose balls, is another aspect of his game his greatness was built on. The Hick From French Lick’s versatility and ability to score from anywhere on the court is echoed in the play of today’s greats like Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, and Jayson Tatum.
For that reason, some fans still believe that Bird deserves more recognition and appreciation for his contributions to the sport than he tends to get.
