Golf: Shelbyville wins team title at Lancers Invitational

Apr. 1—EDINBURGH — The Pirates, Chargers and Bulldogs opened the golf season at the Edinburgh Lancer Invitational at Timbergate Golf Course Saturday. Shelbyville claimed the team title in the 17-team field with a total of 304. Columbus East was second with 312 and Columbus North was third with 330.

Batesville finished in sixth place with a team total of 337. North Decatur was eighth with 338 and Greensburg was 10th with 345.

Other team scores included Roncalli 333, Franklin Central 333, Bloomington North 338, Greenwood 342, Martinsville 355, Connersville 359, Edinburgh 396, Rossville 410, Austin 424, Hauser 426 and Waldron incomplete.

Jackson Day led the way for Batesville with 82. Ian Hixson was a shot back with 83. Jon Moody and Cooper Phebus both carded 86. Leo Moody finished with 90.

North was led by Owen Eldridge with a career best 77, placing him seventh overall. Jack Koehne was next for the Chargers with an 81. Austin Gould carded an 88. Cooper Parmer finished with 92 and Mason Morris finished with 116.

For the Pirates, Colten Schroeder finished 10th overall with a 78. Hunter Springmeyer carded an 84. Logan Simpson finished with 91. Brant Acra was a stroke back with 92 and Reece Chapman had a 99.
