GIRLS' SOCCER: Chipriano, Luckenbach head SL coaches' all-stars
Oct. 30—Blue Mountain senior Sophia Chipriano and Pine Grove junior Viktorya Luckenbach were selected as Schuylkill League Girls' Soccer Co-MVPs and All-State nominees in voting done by the league's coaches.
A Fordham recruit, Chipriano has scored 25 goals and four assists so far this season for the Eagles (17-3-1), who face Allentown Central Catholic in the District 11 Class AA semifinals at 5 tonight at Lehighton. She helped Blue Mountain earn a share of the Division I title, then defeat Williams Valley and Pottsville to capture the overall league championship. Chipriano tallied a goal in the Eagles' 6-0 win over Tamaqua in the District 11 quarterfinals.
Luckenbach has helped Pine Grove (17-3-1) qualify for the PIAA Class A playoffs for the second straight season. The Cardinals take on Moravian Academy in the Class A district final at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Blue Mountain, with both teams advancing to the state playoffs.
On the season, Luckenbach has tallied 14 goals and 15 assists for the Division II champion Cardinals, scoring a goal in both of Pine Grove's District 11 wins over Minersville and Schuylkill Haven.
The league selected Blue Mountain's Matt Kenitzer (Division I) and Weatherly's William Bartel (Division II) as its Coaches of the Year.
