Girls soccer: Check out where our Section 9 champs are playing in states

The New York State public school tournament gets underway this week, with quarterfinals at the end of the week and the Final Four held in the Cortland region on Nov. 12-13.

The four Section 9 champions thus far are Monroe-Woodbury (Class AA), Goshen (Class A), Our Lady of Lourdes (Class B) and Mount Academy (Class D). The Class C sectional final is Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Valley Central (Class AA), Goshen (Class A), Lourdes (Class B), Tri-Valley (Class C) and Mount Academy (Class D) were the No. 1 seeds in sectionals.

Friday, October 21

No. 4 Warwick 2, No. 5 Newburgh 0: Host Warwick posted two goals in the final five minutes, from Johannah Bradley and Trinity Irizzary. Lily Bailey made eight saves for Warwick. Taryn Judson of NFA also had eight stops.

Semifinals

Monday, October 24

No. 1 Valley Central 5, No. 4 Warwick 0: Mackenzie Delmonico tallied three goals and two assists to lead Valley Central. Riley Schmidt and Samantha Setteducato each added a goal. Valley Central goalkeeper Grace Suchy made 10 saves in the clean-sheet win. Lily Bailey and Courtney Evans were in goal for Warwick. No. 2 Monroe-Woodbury 6, No. 3 Pine Bush 0: Francesca Donovan scored four goals as the host Crusaders won the semifinal. Ella Natal and Emily McGee also scored. Olivia Shippee and Reece Dolan each made three saves for the shutout win. Grace Druke stopped eight shots for Pine Bush.

No. 7 Cornwall 3, No. 2 New Paltz 0: Caigan Leonard posted the hat trick and Emma Burich had a goal and assist for the visiting Dragons. Maddie Walsh made 14 stops in the win.

No. 3 Minisink Valley 4, No. 6 Saugerties 0: Host Minisink picked up goals from Cayleigh Kuiken, Kate O'Neill, Olivia Pollock and Jaida Macaluso.

No. 1 Goshen 3, No. 4 Beacon 0: Sophia Appello scored two goals to lead host Goshen. Gigi Obligado added a goal. Eryn Primus and Emma Duffy each dished out an assist.

No. 1 Our Lady of Lourdes 10, No. 8 Ellenville 0: Julia Gigliotti and Grace Morra each had four goals and had an assist to lead Our Lady of Lourdes. Ryleigh Calimano added a goal and two assists. Persephone Rodrieguez added a goal. Julianna Farmer and Frannie Siepp, Mary Wiantewicz each dished out an assist. Cassie Gallagher and Julia Litts (three saves) combined for the clean-sheet victory.

No. 4 Red Hook 7, No. 5 Chester 0: Marleah Catuzza scored two goals to lead Red Hook (9-5-2). Kaitlin Murphy and Ani Safaryan each added a goal and an assist. Molly Button, Peyton Grant and Mia Henning each contributed a goal. Caroline Pethic and Rosie Apap each dished out an assist. Red Hook goalkeepers Isabella Faraldi and Nataleigh Dongo combined for the clean-sheet win. Stephanie Clark made six saves for Chester (5-7-1).

No. 3 Spackenkill 5, No. 6 Onteora 1: Maia Viggiano tallied two goals and an assist to lead Spackenkill. Kara Kilpert added a goal an assist. Amelia Chapin and Blythe McQuade also contributed a goal. Gabby Krakower dished out an assist.

No. 2 James I. O'Neill 6, No. 7 Dover 0: Daisy West tallied three goals and two assists to lead O'Neill (13-1-1). Jael Marie Guy added two goals. Kate Feldman also contributed a goal. Goalkeeper CJ Conkey made five saves for O'Neill in the clean-sheet victory. Keziah Samuel made 19 saves for Dover.

Wednesday, Oct. 26

No. 2 James I. O'Neill 5, No. 3 Spackenkill 2: In a Section 9 Class B semifinal, host O'Neill (14-1-1) got three goals from Jael Marie Guy and two from Daisy West. C.J. Conkey had 18 stops. Spackenkill's Bailey O'Gorman had 16 saves.

No. 1 Our Lady of Lourdes 3, No. 4 Red Hook 0: In a Section 9 Class B semifinal, host Lourdes got a first-half goal from Juliana Farmer. Julia Gigliotti scored twice in a one-minute span of the second half. Cassie Gallagher made five stops for the Warriors.

No. 6 S.S. Seward 1, No. 3 Rhinebeck 0: Taylor Vogt scored the goal off an assist from Shannon Sgombick to lead S.S. Seward (10-5-1). Stephanie Reicherter made 12 saves for the Spartans in the clean-sheet victory.

No. 1 Tri-Valley 6, No. 4 Burke Catholic 2: Kendall McGregor tallied three goals and two assists to lead Tri-Valley. Abbi Mentnech added two goals and Riley Kelly notched a late goal. Brooke Delaney dished out two assists and Taylor Doty had one. Tri-Valley goalkeeper Kaylee Poppo made 11 saves in the win. Kiera Laurice scored twice for Burke Catholic. Madeline Coley and Gabriella Filosa combined to make 15 saves.

Marissa Gochenour made six saves for Eldred.
