Girls basketball roundup: Charlotte edges Ionia, Eastern tops Everett

CHARLOTTE 57, IONIA 56

Jaelyn Baker was one of four players to score in double figures as the Orioles edged Ionia for their second straight CAAC White win. Baker had 15 points and six steals and Emma Carnes had 12 points for Charlotte (2-6, 2-2). Peyton Howarth added 11 points and five steals and Lindy Miller had 10 points for the Orioles. Aubree White led Ionia (3-4, 1-3) with 17 points.

EASTERN 55, EVERETT 31

Leah Palacios scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Quakers to a nonleague win over Everett (0-5). Kaleigh Pfeifer scored nine points and Illyanna Montgomery and Kristy Palacios each snagged six steals for Eastern (1-6).

DeWITT 60, RICHLAND GULL LAKE 22

DeWITT — Tara Kurncz led all scorers with 25 points to push the Panthers to a nonleague home win over Richland Gull Lake (4-3). Madi Uyl tallied nine points, six rebounds and four assists and Carly Dennis added eight points for DeWitt (7-1). JV score: DeWitt 48, Gull Lake 41

HASLETT 78, EAST LANSING 43

HASLETT — Christina Dixon and Avery Hannah each led the Vikings with a game-high 16 points in their nonleague win over East Lansing. Durgen McIntosh tallied 12 points and seven rebounds, Kaitlyn Johnson finished with 10 points and seven rebounds and Alexis Turner picked up eight steals and seven assists for Haslett (5-3). Sophie Klinger scored a team-high 11 points and Nevaeh Vasquez and Sydney Hutson each added seven points for the Trojans (5-3). JV score: Haslett 43, East Lansing 30

LAINGSBURG 36, LANSING CHRISTIAN 35

Callie Clark scored a team-high 11 points to help the Wolfpack (4-2, 3-1) outlast Lansing Christian for the CMAC road victory. Sophie Hazelton finished with a team-high 11 points for the Pilgrims (3-4, 1-4).

MASON 47, OKEMOS 37

OKEMOS — Elizabeth Schafer tallied a team-high 12 points for the Wolves (3-3) in a nonleague loss to Mason (4-3).

BATH 54, SARANAC 21

SARANAC — Anna Poppema led the Bees with a game-high 14 points and snagged four steals to help Bath stay unbeaten with a CMAC win over Saranac. Aubrie Schaibly finished with 11 points and grabbed six rebounds, Aubri Torok tallied 10 points and seven steals and Kaitlyn Dickey added eight points for Bath (6-0, 4-0). Maycee Reed scored a team-high seven points for the Red Hawks (1-5, 0-4).

WILLIAMSTON 47, GRAND LEDGE 31

WILLIAMSTON — Abby Brennan had 18 points and Thea Fortin scored 12 points to lead the Hornets to a nonleague win. Ava Jackson led Grand Ledge with 17 points.

OLIVET 40, EATON RAPIDS 25

OLIVET — Olivea Gessner had 13 points and five steals to help the Eagles to a CAAC White win. Magan Priesman had 11 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists for Olivet (4-4, 3-1). Zoe Newberry had 10 points to lead Eaton Rapids.

MORRICE 62, INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF FLINT 30

FLINT — Payton Goodline had a game-high 31 points and added three steals and two assists to lead the Orioles in a GAC Blue victory. Aubrey Rogers added 17 points, eight rebounds and seven steals and Alea Rose had nine points and 10 rebounds for Morrice (6-1, 4-0).

LAKEWOOD 58, SEXTON 21

LAKE ODESSA — Cadence Poll led all scorers with 16 points to lead the Vikings in their CAAC White win over Sexton. Joee Harton had 12 points and Alivia Everitt scored 11 for Lakewood.

PORTLAND ST. PATRICK 62, PERRY 23

PERRY — Mattie Honsowitz notched 14 points and hauled in eight rebounds to lead the Shamrocks to a CMAC victory over Perry (3-5, 0-4). Laynie Meredith picked up 13 points and six steals and Addie Scheurer tacked on 12 points and dished out five assists for Portland St. Patrick (4-2, 3-1).

FOWLER 52, POTTERVILLE 23

POTTERVILLE — Brooke Weber tallied a team-high 13 points to propel the Eagles to a CMAC road win over Potterville. Selena Stump scored 12 points and Grace O’Hare chipped in eight points for Fowler (7-1, 5-0). Emily Cates picked up a team-high 13 points and Aubrey Gasch added six points for the Vikings (1-5, 0-4).

OWOSSO 64, ORTONVILLE BRANDON 36

ORTONVILLE — Danica Dwyer notched a game-high 24 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Trojans to a Flint Metro League win over Ortonville Brandon (2-6, 0-3). Reese Thayer scored 11 points and snagged four steals and Peyton Spicer added eight points and pulled down nine rebounds for Owosso (4-3, 3-1).
