Girls basketball dominated the action on Tuesday with a little swimming thrown in
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Division I
Cranston West 48, La Salle 39
The balanced scoring of Olivia Tedeschi-Moran (13 points), Maia Riccio (12) and Kyla Bucco (11) propelled the Falcons to victory in the Division I crossover game. Grace Martone had 8 points for the Rams.
Portsmouth 47, Juanita Sanchez 35
Ava Moore (15 points) and Gyselle Mairs (14) combined to lead the Patriots to victory. Also contributing to the win was Stella Orr, who had 4 points and 5 assists, and Annie Hurd, who had 6 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 blocks and 3 assists. Charize Romero led all scorers with 17 points and Arianna Fernandes had 15 for the Cavaliers.
North Kingstown 55, Westerly 47
The Bulldogs took a 3-point lead into the break, but the Skippers' Jaelyn Holmes had big plans for the second half. She scored 12 of her 17 points in that half, and combined with Brooke Faunce's 17 (with a pair of 3s), North clinched its third league victory to remain unbeaten this season. Shea Kalin added 11 points in the win. Riley Peloquin paced the Bulldogs with 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and Nova Woodward added 10.
Division II
South Kingstown 70, St. Raphael 51
Finley Carr pumped in 25 points, Abbey McDonald was good for 20 and Abbie O'Rourke added 11 in the Rebels win over the Saints. Vannesa Piscione did her best to keep St. Raphael in the game with a 28-point performance.
East Greenwich 61, Woonsocket 27
Brooke Fairbanks scored 15 points and Catherine Neville and Olivia Prior combined to score 17 as the Avengers upended the Villa Novans. For Woonsocket, Alanna Colon had a team-high 12 points.
Shea/Tolman 82, Mount Pleasant 37
Tiyara Gonzalez netted 18 points and Trinity Burk contributed 15 as the co-op team from Pawtucket cruised to victory. Amera Quinones led Mount Pleasant with 18 points, all coming from outside the 3-point arc.
Moses Brown 58, Smithfield 33
Fifteen points by Lauren Bousquet and 14 by Marielle Nassiff helped the Quakers post the victory. Annabelle Lally had 9 points to lead the Sentinels.
West Warwick 48, Tiverton 36
Strong outings by Liz Gresian (10 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals) and Lexie Herceg, who scored 15 points, lifted the Wizards past the Tigers. Tiverton's top scorers were Jenna DelDeo with 11 points and Izabell Williams with 8 points.
Mt. Hope 53, Prout 31
Lilly DaSilveira paced the attack with 17 points, Elsa White chipped in with 14 (thanks to four 3-pointers), and Emily Moran had 9 for the Huskies. Prout was led by Ella Martin, who had 11 points.
Division III
Pilgrim 37, Middletown 25
Amaya Coffie scored a team-high 11 points and Ariana Keebler buried a pair of 3-pointers en route to 10 points as the Patriots earned their first league win of the season. For Middletown, Ella Bolano scored a game-high 17 points.
Exeter/W. Greenwich 48, Burrillville 30
Nina Olawuyi scored a team-high16 points, Emma Mears scored 11, Ella Johnson added 9 and Kate Hebert knocked down 8 as the Scarlet Knights rolled to victory over the Broncos. Ava Ayotte scored a game-high 17 points for Burrillville.
BOYS SWIMMING
Division I
North Kingstown 62, Lincoln 32
Will Schatz won the 100 backstroke and was part of two winning relay teams (the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay), helping the Skippers outscore the Lions. Also contributing to the victory were Evan Wysor, who was first in the 200 freestyle and was part of the 200 medley relay team, and Ian Scott-Sheldon, who took the 100 free and was on the winning 400 free relay team. Lincoln's Holden Brown won the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly.
Division III
Cranston West 83, Smithfield 1
Charlie Maguire and Alex Tremblay each finished first in a pair of events and contributed to relay team wins in the Falcons' romp. Maguire won the 200 IM and the 100 freestyle while Tremblay took the 200 free and 500 free races. Both swam on the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay teams. Trenton Kiernan helped the cause by touching first in the 100 butterfly and helping the 200 medley and 400 free relay teams to wins. Joe Iannitti also swam in those same relays in addition to winning the 100 breaststroke.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Division I
North Kingstown 68, Lincoln 26
The Skippers' Isabel Bouzaid and Clare Carroll dominated the action in the pool on Tuesday, each winning two individual events and contributing to wins in relays. Bouzaid was first in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke events and helped the 400 free relay and 200 medley relay teams finish first. Angela Pariseault took the 200 IM and 100 fly and swam legs in the 400 free relay and 200 medley relay. Audrey Bonin chipped in by winning the 50 free and helping NK's 200 free relay and 200 medley relay teams finish first.
Division II
Narragansett 53, Moses Brown 41
Addison Bonner won the 200 freestyle and 500 free races and helped the Mariners finish first in the 200 free relay as they prevailed over the Quakers. Moses Brown was led by Madison Rogers, who won the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke events and swam a leg on the victorious 200 medley relay and 400 free relay teams.
Division III
Smithfield 63, Cranston West 31
Taryn Reed won the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke races and was part of the winning 200 medley relay as the Sentinels held off the Falcons. Cranston West's Bianca Asencio touched first in the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle events and helped the 400 free relay team come in first.
