Girls basketball brackets released for Section 1 tournaments
Some coaches, fans and players like it, believing it evens the playing field with teams playing more like-size schools.
Others see it as a money-maker that cheapens what it means to be win a championship.
But love it or hate it, the creation of Class AAA in both girls and boys high school basketball for the biggest public schools means more playoff games and more local and state champions.
Sixty-one teams, divided into five classes, have made this year's Section 1 girls basketball playoffs.
Westchester County Center will host all the boys and girls Section 1 semifinal and championship games.
The semifinals will span four days at the County Center and the finals three days.
