Giants vs. Seahawks: Week 4 staff picks and predictions
The New York Giants (1-2) will take on the Seattle Seahawks (2-1) this Monday night at MetLife Stadium in their fourth game of the 2023 regular season.
Opening the week, the Giants were a 1-point home underdog but that spread briefly swung the other way. New York was, at one point, -1.5 but that has again shifted and as of this writing, they are +1.5.
How does the Giants Wire staff see this Week 4 battle shaking out? Here’s a look at our picks and score predictions:
Dan Benton: Seahawks 30, Giants 26
The Seahawks are dominant in prime time and the Giants are, well, not. Hard to believe that changes any time soon. I do expect the Giants to score some more points with Andrew Thomas (if he’s actually able to play) and Ben Bredeson back, but it’s not going to be enough. Even Saquon can’t save them under the lights.
John Fennelly: Giants 27, Seahawks 24
If there was ever a game the Giants needed to either win or put in a solid showing, it’s this one. They have been miserably bad on National television (Daniel Jones, especially) and this is an opportunity to right that wagon against a Seattle team that is very leaky against the pass. Expect the Giants to finally open up the passing game and put some points on the board. They need a win here to prevent them from a 1-3 start, which would put them in a hole that they might not get out of.
Tyler Henry: Seahawks 27, Giants 24
Right now, it’s hard to have confidence in the Giants, especially on primetime.
I do like the Giants’ chances much more at MetLife Stadium than I would if they were on the road in this game given how hard it is to play in Seattle.
If Saquon Barkley and Andrew Thomas were fully healthy, I might feel differently about who is going to win. But without those two healthy, the Giants will have trouble moving the ball. They will need to improve heavily on both sides of the ball in order to come away with the W on Monday night.
Unfortunately, I think it’s a lot to overcome and I see Big Blue falling short in a close one in a crucial game at this point in the season.
Kevin Hickey: Seahawks 28, Giants 21
With Andrew Thomas and Saquon Barkley in question for Monday night, it’s difficult to see the Giants pulling off the win even at home. The defense has instilled next to no confidence to open the season, and it’s going to be that until they begin showing signs of life. The Seahawks offense has more than enough weapons to take over this game, and that’s likely what they’ll do behind D.K. Metcalf and Kenneth Walker. Meanwhile, the Giants offense will have the chance to move the ball against a poor Seahawks pass rush, but it still may not be enough to cover the issues Big Blue is working through.
Jeevan Kirkland: Giants 23, Seahawks 20
The Giants get a much-needed win as they end their prime-time curse under Daniel Jones. This is a very good Seahawks team but Big Blue should be able to keep this one competitive. The home atmosphere along with the continued gelling of the team should be able to help the Giants slightly get over that edge and defeat Seattle. This game will come down to if New York’s defense comes to play and with a couple of the rookies getting more snaps under their belt and Azeez Ojulari healthy one can hope that the unit will look much more improved.
Serena Burks: Seahawks 34, Giants 17
My faith in the Giants is quickly dwindling. This team has so much potential and talent, but their youth at skilled positions is killing them. The mistakes, missed tackles, dropped passes, penalties, it all adds up. The Giants are at home on Monday, but I am not convinced they can beat the Seahawks, who seem to be surging.
