Georgia vs UT Martin: Injury report ahead of season opener

Georgia football will kickoff its 2023 season versus UT Martin on Saturday in Sanford Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET on SEC Network + and ESPN +.

The Bulldogs couldn’t shake the injury bug this offseason and are far from entering the season opener healthy.

Here is our Week 1 injury report as the Dawgs take on the Skyhawks:

RB Daijun Edwards

Injury: Knee (MCL)

Status: Questionable

Smart shared positive updates on both Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton on Tuesday:

“They’ve both done more. Daijun stayed in a black. Kendall’s been out of a black. Both are looking good. We’re giving a lot of reps to a lot of other guys, we’ve got a lot of other guys to get prepared, but they’ve both been in indy, they’ve both done drills, they’ve both worked during the run periods and the pass periods. Feel good about both of them.”

While Edwards has returned to practice, we’ve listed him as questionable as coaches may decide to hold him out as a precaution.

LB Smael Mondon

Injury: Foot

Status: Questionable

Mondon has battled back from foot surgery in the spring and has progressed well, according to Smart. We are listing him as doubtful due to the sensitive nature of the injury.

Injury: Foot

Status: Questionable

Lassiter has repped at practices the last couple of weeks but it seems that his foot injury is still lingering. We wouldn’t be surprised if Lassiter sees the field on Saturday.

Injury: Undisclosed

Status: Questionable

Harris did not participate in Georgia second scrimmage of fall camp. Smart hasn’t mentioned Harris’ status, but the Bulldogs have young cornerbacks to see reps from on Saturday, so he may sit this one out.

Status: Doubtful

The true freshman suffered a hyper-extended knee in Georgia’s first scrimmage, but there is no structural damage. The former five-star should be back soon, but we likely won’t see him versus UT Martin.
