George Fant gives his thoughts on the state of the Jets

The offensive line of the New York Jets has gone through a bit of an overhaul over the past couple of seasons, particularly the last two, as they try to protect QB Zach Wilson.

Through injuries and other issues, Wilson didn’t exactly get that protection in 2021. He suffered the third-most sacks last season, with 44. Only Bengals QB Joe Burrow (51) and Titans QB Ryan Tannehill (47) were sacked more than Wilson during the regular season.

This offseason, the Jets hope to have better luck up front. Right tackle Mehki Becton is back after suffering a dislocated kneecap and sprained MCL in Week 1 last season. The Jets also added free-agent guard Laken Tomlinson to handle the left side of the line, shifting second-year guard Alijah Vera-Tucker to right guard.

The man that will man the blind side for Zach Wilson, left tackle George Fant, who had a very good 2021 and looks locked into the left tackle position, talked to New York Jets’ team reporter Ethan Greenberg and shared his thoughts on the front five of the Jets offense, the growth of the team and the defensive line.
