Gators rise in NET rankings following win over UGA
Florida basketball killed two birds with one stone on Tuesday night, snapping its three-game losing streak while sweeping the season series from their arch-rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs, on their own home court. In the process, the Gators also handed former UF head coach Mike White his second defeat at the hands of his old program in his first year in Athens.
The Orange and Blue remain outside of the NCAA Tournament picture at this point so every victory from here out is ostensibly a moral one as well. Still playing hard, Todd Golden’s team managed to make up some ground in the NET rankings following the win, moving up five spots from No. 64 to No. 59 on Wednesday.
The Gators are now 15-15 overall with an 8-9 mark in Southeastern Conference play to go along with a 2-12 record in Quadrant 1 matchups, 1-2 in Quad 2, 8-1 in Quad 3 and 4-0 in Quad 4 affairs.
Next up for Florida is their final regular-season opponent, the LSU Tigers, who they host inside the O’Connell Center on Saturday, March 4. LSU is currently ranked No. 154 in the NET while holding the bottom spot in the SEC standings. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. EST and the game can be watched on the SEC Network or heard on the Gator Sports Network.
