Gastonia, Shelby area high school fall sports top performers for Aug. 21-26

This is a daily list of top performers from area teams, compiled courtesy of information provided to The Gaston Gazette and Shelby Star by coaches, athletic directors and team statisticians through emails, MaxPreps and Twitter.

Thursday, Aug. 24

Volleyball

Emily Allen, Cherryville: Finished with eight assists and six kills in a 3-0 win over Shelby.

Taylor Digh, Cherryville: Had eight digs.

Kate Mulvey, Cherryville: Had four aces and six kills.

Anne Bradley Bing, Gaston Day: Had 33 assists and 20 kills in a 3-2 loss to Laurens Academy (SC).

Megan Brown, Gaston Day: Finished with 32 kills and 22 assists.

Riley Decker, Highland Tech: Had eight digs and an assist in a 3-0 win over Burns.

Alexus Neal, Highland Tech: Led the Rams with eight kills, a block and four digs.

Isabelle Simmons, Highland Tech: Finished with a team-high 12 assists to go with six digs, a block and four kills.

Jessie Ozmore, Kings Mountain: Had 11 digs in a 3-0 win over Weddington.

Camden Pasour, Kings Mountain: Had 29 assists, eight digs and a kill.

Meile Songaila, KIngs Mountain: Had 16 kills and seven digs.

Cole Casper, Gaston Christian: Earned a hat trick.

Austin Sams, Gaston Christian: Scored a goal.

Michael Sparks, Gaston Christian: Scored a goal.

Bennett Ackerman, Gaston Day: Scored two goals in a 9-0 win over Burlington School.

Ben Hertle, Gaston Day: Scored a goal.

Ben Horgan, Gaston Day: Scored a goal and assisted on another.

Kurt Hunter, Gaston Day: Scored a goal.

Kendall Parsons, Gaston Christian: Had 14 digs and 12 digs.

Anne Bradley Bing, Gaston Day: Had 38 assists, 14 kills and two blocks in a 3-2 win over Hickory Christian.

Megan Brown, Gaston Day: Had 28 kills, 11 assists and two blocks.

Camden Pasour, Kings Mountain: Had 30 assists, eight digs, two kills and two blocks.

Meile Songaila, Kings Mountain: Had 12 kills and eight digs in a 3-0 win over West Henderson.

Cross country

Lexi Birtwistle, South Point: Outpaced teammate Maddie Frank by a second, placing first at the Kings Mountain girls XC meet with a time of 14:42.

Ben Kimmel, Hunter Huss: His time of 12:37 was good to finish fourth at the Kings Mountain boys XC meet, helping the Huskies to a team win.

Isaiah Watts, Kings Mountain: Placed first with a time of 11:19 at the Kings Mountain boys XC meet.

Monday, Aug. 21

Volleyball

Emily Allen, Cherryville: Led her team with 12 kills, 14 digs and nine assists in a 3-1 loss to Lincolnton.

Kate Mulvey, Cherryville: Had 14 assists and 11 digs.

Camellia Holland, Lincolnton: Led her team with 17 kills, 13 blocks and 10 digs in a 3-1 win over Cherryville.

Lala Thomas, Lincolnton: Had 38 digs.

Boys soccer

Andres Bustos, North Gaston: Scored a goal in a 1-1 draw with Burns.

Carter Mammano, Stuart Cramer: Had two goals in a 6-0 win over East Gaston.
