Gastonia, Shelby area high school fall sports top performers for Week 8 of the 2023 season

This is a daily list of top performers from area teams, compiled courtesy of information provided to The Gaston Gazette and Shelby Star by coaches, athletic directors and team statisticians through emails, MaxPreps and Twitter.

Volleyball

Alise Mayers, Highland Tech: Had a team-high 15 kills in a 3-0 win over Bessemer City.

Isabelle Simmons, Highland Tech: Had 21 assists.

Myracle Davis, Kings Mountain: Had 11 kills and a block in a 3-0 win over North Gaston.

Camden Pasour, Kings Mountain: Had 33 assists, five digs and three kills.

Meile Songaila, Kings Mountain: Had 12 kills and three digs.

Camellia Holland, Lincolnton: Led her team with nine kills and 20 blocks to go with seven digs and an assist in a 3-1 loss to East Burke.

Lala Thomas, Lincolnton: Had a team-high 51 digs.

Chase Holt, Lincoln Charter: Had five kills in a 3-0 win over Bradford Prep.

Reygan Kirkby, Lincoln Charter: Had 20 assists and four kills.

Kaeli Lappin, Lincoln Charter: Had five kills and 10 digs.

Girls tennis

Lily Cabe, Forestview: Won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 4 singles, along with an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles. The Jaguars won 7-of-9 matches to take their match against Stuart Cramer.

Lilly Friday, Forestview: Won 6-1, 6-0 in No. 3 singles, along with an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles.

Olivia Hensley, Forestview: Won 6-4, 6-2 in No. 2 singles, along with an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles.

Rennie Liu, Forestview: Won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, along with an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles.

Arowen Caldwell, Highland Tech: Won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 5 singles, along with an 8-5 win in No. 3 doubles. Highland Tech swept its match with Thomas Jefferson, 9-0.

Madison Darnell, Highland Tech: Won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, along with an 8-3 win in No. 1 doubles.

Noelle Martin, Highland Tech: Won 6-1, 6-4 in No. 3 singles, along with an 8-4 win in No. 2 doubles.

Misha Singh, Highland Tech: Won 6-2, 6-2 in No. 6 singles, along with an 8-4 win in No. 2 doubles.

Samantha Syboutian, North Gaston: Won 6-3, 6-1 in No. 4 singles, along with an 8-1 win in No. 2 doubles.

Chloe Worley, North Gaston: Won 6-2, 6-2 in No. 3 singles, along with an 8-1 win in No. 2 doubles.

Annalise Bradley, Shelby: Won 6-3, 6-2 in No. 6 singles, along with an 8-4 win in No. 3 doubles. Shelby won its match with Burns, 9-0.

Caroline Curtis, Shelby: Won 6-2, 6-3 in No. 2 singles, along with an 8-4 win in No. 1 doubles.

Ella Hensley, Shelby: Won 6-4, 6-2 in No. 3 singles, along with an 8-3 win in No. 2 doubles.

Jasmine Martin, Shelby: Won 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 in No. 5 singles. She also won 8-4 in No. 3 doubles.

Delaney Pless, Shelby: Won 6-7(5-7), 6-1, 12-10 in No. 4 singles. She also won 8-3 in No. 2 doubles.

Anna Schweppe, Shelby: Won 6-4, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, along with an 8-4 win in No. 1 doubles.

Lauren Lucas, South Point: Won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles during a 6-3 loss to North Gaston.

Girls golf

Melony Hoffman, West Lincoln: Shot a 39 to claim medalist honors, leading the Lady Rebels to a team score of 133 and a win by 18 strokes over Catawba Valley 2A competition. Teammates Taylor Turner (46), Gracie Campbell (48), Jaylee Smith (48), Anysley Howard (53) and Katie Campbell (58) also contributed to the victory.

Wednesday, Oct. 4

Volleyball

Emily Allen, Cherryville: Had 12 digs and 18 assists in a 3-2 loss to Chase.

Raylei Gidney, Cherryville: Had 10 kills.

Gwyn Neels, East Lincoln: Had 14 kills and five digs.

Stella Neels, East Lincoln: Had 27 assists and five digs in a 3-1 loss to Hickory.

Boys soccer

Anthony Anselmo, Kings Mountain: Scored a goal in a 3-1 loss to Stuart Cramer.

Aaron Lail, Lincolnton: Scored a goal in a 5-3 win over Bunker Hill.

Noah Laws, Lincolnton: Scored a goal.

Abby Grier, Crest: Won 6-1, 6-0 in No. 6 singles, along with an 8-3 win in No. 3 doubles. Crest won 8-1 in its match with Hunter Huss.

Ardan Jones, Crest: Won 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 singles, along with a 9-8 (7-4) win over Hunter Huss.

Abby Peeler, Crest: Won 6-4, 6-0 in No. 3 singles and an 8-3 victory in No. 2 doubles.

Melony Hoffman, West Lincoln: Had a team low score of 86, helping the Lady Rebels to an overall score of 280 and a 41-stroke victory against Catawba Valley 2A competition. Teammates Taylor Turner (95), Jaylee Smith (99), Calla Varner (99) and Anysley Howard (101) also contributed to the victory.

Alexa Dos Santos, East Lincoln: Had 18 kills and 15 digs in a 3-1 win over North Lincoln.

Gwyn Neels, East Lincoln: Had 28 kills, 16 digs

Stella Neels, East Lincoln: Had 54 assists.

Kendall Parsons, Gaston Christian: Had 13 assists and two digs in a 3-0 win over Northside Christian.

Piper Riley, Gaston Christian: Had 13 aces.
