Garrett Armfield hopes win over two-time ‘TUF’ winner Brad Katona gives him post-UFC 297 surge
TORONTO – Garrett Armfield beat Brad Katona with a unanimous decision Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC 297 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

Armfield on the fight's key moment
“I really don’t know how to score it because he did get the takedowns and the cage control at the end, and he did hold me against the cage the majority of the third round. But I knew that he was missing a lot. I kind of felt myself like ‘enter the matrix’ there. I felt kind of cool. I knew I was beating him to the jab and I was touching him a lot more. I thought it was going to be a split decision. I didn’t know how it was going to go either way. I thought it was a close fight. Hat’s off to Brad. He’s a hell of a competitor.”
Armfield on arguably his biggest win
“That is a huge feather in my cap. I did what – and all respect to all these fighters – but that man beat Kyler Phillips, that man beat Bryce Mitchell, that man beat (Cody) Gibson, that man beat a huge amount of names. But Garrett Armfield, he did not beat. He lost to Garrett Armfield because I am a hell of a fighter.”
Armfield on what he wants next
“I beat the two-time ‘Ultimate Fighter’ winner. I deserve a new contract. Plain and simple. I work for it. I’m not going to sit here and beg for it. I’m not trying to burn bridges or anything like that or do anything bad. I would like (a new contract), but they want me to fight one more time. Let’s go. Send me to another country. Send me overseas. Let’s go. Let’s go to Europe. Let’s go somewhere else. I want to see the world. Let’s get that fourth fight under that contract and we’ll get a new contract.”
