GameTimePA golfers fall short of medals at PIAA tournaments
Lane Krosse did something not many prep golfers can say they did.
The Dallastown senior ended his high school career Tuesday with a birdie in the PIAA tournament.
"My high school career is over, but it was a lot of fun," he said after finishing tied for 20th on Penn State's Blue Course in the Class 3A tournament. "I almost made eagle."
Central York sophomore Dallas Inch was one of the four golfers tied with Krosse at 2 over for the tournament.
Annville-Cleona sophomore Logan Francis was the top finisher among GameTimePA golfers from Adams, Lebanon and York counties. He fired rounds of 75 and 72 to finish tied for 11th at 3 over in Class 2A.
Francis leap-frogged his way past A-C teammate Reagan Flynn, who finished tied for 25th less than two weeks after winning the District 3 Class 2A title.
"The pin locations were a little tougher today," Flynn said, "but it was a good group of guys and that made it more enjoyable. And now we're putting our focus toward some academics over the winter and college golf next year."
On the girls' side, York Catholic's Olivia Kury finished tied for 11th in Class 2A at 15 over after rounds of 82 and 77. Dallastown's Taylor Hicks shot 11 over with rounds of 76, 79 to finish tied for 14th in Class 3A.
Next up, college
Krosse and Flynn know they want to play at the next level, but neither are sure where that is going to be.
"It's between three schools now, Mount St. Mary's, Murray State and the University of Dayton," Krosse said. "I would say by the end of December I will have a decision."
Flynn is looking at a pair of Division III Pennsylvania schools – Gettysburg College and University of Scranton. His dad went to Scranton, so he has some ties there. And he likes Gettysburg.
So it might come down to the home golf courses.
"It's neck and neck, you know, when you get to pure golf courses like Glenmaura National and Penn National Golf Club," Flynn said. "It's all enjoyable."
