Games to see in New Jersey this weekend
Northeast Jersey:
DePaul (3-1) at St. Peter’s Prep (3-1), Friday night. DePaul has a chance to prove it really belongs this weekend. They have already beaten Paramus Catholic and Don Bosco.
Weequahic (4-0) at Cedar Grove (2-2), Friday night. Undefeated Weequahic visits a Cedar Grove squad who knocked off previously unbeaten Glen Ridge last week.
Wallington (3-0) at Emerson (4-0), Friday night. Two surprise teams battle it out for what could be the division title.
Don Bosco (2-3) at St. Joe’s, Montvale (3-1), Friday night. For no other reason, the recent off-the-field recruiting charges Bosco filed against Joe’s bring some drama.
Northwest Jersey:
Jefferson (3-1) at Parsippany Hills (4-0), Friday night. Parsippany Hills has looked very good behind QB Nick Verducci and Jefferson’s only loss is to High Point in week one by a point.
Lakeland (4-0) at Newton (4-0), Friday night. Two 4-0 teams and each have at least one quality win.
Morris Hills (3-1) at High Point (3-1), Friday night. Morris Hills suffered their first loss and High Point rebounded nicely off their only loss.
Mount Olive (3-1) at Hackettstown (3-1), Friday night. Both were 3-0 last week and both lost by identical 21-7 scores.
Mountain Lakes (3-1) at Madison (2-2), Saturday afternoon. Both teams come off losses and this game will point a direction as to where both teams are headed.
Paramus Catholic (2-3) at Pope John (4-0), Saturday afternoon. This was a close game last year and Pope John is off to a good start, while PC has lost their last two.
Mid-State 38:
Bridgewater-Raritan (3-1) at North Hunterdon (4-0), Friday night. Bridgewater-Raritan rebounded nicely after a loss and have been in big games. North Hunterdon keeps moving up and a win can move them higher.
Ridge (2-2) at Hillsborough (2-2), Friday night. Two highly-regarded teams face off, with both teams badly needing a win.
Roselle Park (4-1) at Bound Brook (3-1), Friday night. Some will see that Roselle Park beat Belvidere easily, while Bound Brook lost to them, but I don’t think that will matter tomorrow night.
Hillside (3-1) at Johnson (4-0), Friday night. Hillside comes off a good win over Roselle and Johnson also beat them the week before.
Middlesex County:
Piscataway (3-0) at Sayreville (3-1), Friday night. One of the area’s top rivalries and Piscataway looks like a well-oiled machine. Sayreville lost by one point to Brick Memorial in overtime last week.
The Shore:
Middletown South (2-2) at Long Branch (3-0), Friday night. Long Branch knocked off previously unbeaten Wall and Middletown South needs to rebound.
Central Regional (3-1) at Brick Memorial (3-1), Friday night. Brick Memorial comes off a big win against Sayreville and all of Central’s games have been close.
Point Pleasant Beach (3-1) at Keansburg (2-2), Saturday afternoon. Point Beach lost its first game last week and Keansburg has a chance to take a step forward.
South Jersey:
Rancocas Valley (4-0) at Lenape (3-0), Friday night. One of the state’s biggest games. Lenape comes off a bye and has allowed only six points, while RV is scoring 40 points a game.
Woodrow Wilson (3-0) at Moorestown (4-0), Friday night. Another with two unbeaten teams. Wilson have several good college prospects and both teams have beaten a promising Highland Regional team.
West Deptford (3-0) at Sterling (3-0), Friday night. West Deptford is the perennial power and Sterling is an upstart. Both come off bye weeks.
Pleasantville (3-0) at Holy Spirit (3-1), Friday night. Pleasantville is having its first good year in a while and Holy Spirit comes off an impressive win over Delsea.
Eastern (4-0) at Timber Creek (4-0), Friday night. Two 4-0 teams , with Timber Creek a heavy favorite, as Eastern’s four wins are against opponents who have two wins combined.
