Game Preview: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New York Jets

After starting off at 2-1 on the season, the Jacksonville Jaguars will take on the New York Jets this Sunday. The Jaguars are coming off a 44-7 blowout win against the Ravens and the Jets picked up their first victory of the season last Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

Both teams are coming in with momentum, but after last week, I believe that the Jaguars are the obvious favorites in this game. While they shouldn’t take the Jets lightly, they should be able to take control of the game early especially with the defense that they have.

What matchups should fans look out for this Sunday between the two teams?

Leonard Fournette vs. Jets defensive line

I see Fournette running wild against the Jets defense, especially if he gets past the Jets defensive line. Fournette has been successful the last three weeks and now he’ll face a defense that has not done well so he should be able to take advantage of the many opportunities that he’ll have.

Jaguars secondary vs. Jets wideouts

This secondary in Jacksonville has stood out for the defense with a rising star in Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye. With the exception of last week, the Jets are more than likely to play from behind which will make them throw the ball. Jermaine Kearse and Robby Anderson have been the teams best receivers who will look to keep up their production. If the secondary holds their ground, expect the Jaguars defense to take down the Jets throughout the game.

Blake Bortles vs. Jets defensive line

Bortles struggled the first two weeks, then out of nowhere he played like an elite quarterback last week against the Ravens who one of the better defenses’ in the league. Who’s to say he can’t repeat his performance against a weaker Jets team? If the Jaguars offensive line protects Bortles, he should pass all over the secondary making it an easier game for the Jags.
