G-Men to VHSL Final Four, James Monroe, River View to Class A state QFs
Feb. 28—ALTAVISTA, Va. — The Graham High School boys basketball team is going to the Final Four.
The G-Men upended higher seed Gretna 71-65 in Tuesday's Virginia High School League Class 2 state tournament quarterfinal game played at Altavista High School.
Graham will advance to face Virginia High on Friday in a state semifinal game at an as-yet unspecified site.
The Bearcats defeated Martinsville 50-36 on Tuesday night.
In the other bracket, John Marshall defeated Clarke County 120-57 while Bruton edged Luray 54-50. John Marshall will face Bruton on Thursday.

LINDSIDE — The James Monroe girls basketball team punched its ticket to the Class A state tournament on Tuesday night, defeating visiting Meadow Bridge in a lopsided Co-Regional Championship victory.
The Lady Mavericks (16-8) will face Huntington St. Joseph's (19-5) in a 9 p.m. quarterfinal game next Wednesday at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.

CHARMCO — The River View girls basketball team took the long route back to Charleston, effecting yet another trip to the Class A state tournament by defeating the Lady Cavaliers at Charmco on Tuesday night.
The Lady Raiders (17-8) will take on second-seeded Gilmer County (23-2) in a 1 p.m. game next Wednesday at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
