A future first-round pick in the Hogs’ backfield?

It’s nothing like a mock draft, especially the ones one year before the actual draft.

Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports released his too-early mock draft, featuring Arkansas’s premier running back, Rahiem Sanders. Wilson had Sanders going 23rd overall to the Los Angeles Chargers.

We saw two RBs go in the first round of the ’23 draft and we thought Bijan Robinson would be a great fit for the Chargers had he still been available (he wasn’t). They get that first-round RB here. – Ryan Wilson

Sanders excelled as the Hogs’ best playmaker last season, with seven games over 100+ yards rushing. Sanders’s speed was already known, but the sophomore showed he could be a workhorse with 20+ carries in five of the season’s last six games.

Any time a running back can provide that kind of workload late in the season will surely catch the scouts’ attention.

Keeping things in perspective, though, this is only a mock draft. The 2024 season is important not only for Sanders’s draft stock but for the Hogs’ success, and that success has a lot to do with Sanders.
