Former Vols’ assistant Brandon Staley fired as Chargers’ head coach
Los Angeles announced changes to the Chargers’ organization on Friday.
“We have parted ways with head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco,” the Chargers announced.
Staley served as Los Angeles’ head coach from 2021-23, compiling a 24-24 record.
The Chargers (5-9) lost to Las Vegas (6-8), 63-21, on Thursday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Staley was a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee in 2012. During his Tennessee tenure, he worked with inside linebackers and was a special teams assistant.
After leaving Tennessee, Staley served as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at James Madison in 2014. He was defensive coordinator and secondary coach at John Carroll (2013, 2015-16) before coaching in the NFL.
Staley served as outside linebackers coach for Chicago (2017-18) and with the Broncos in 2019. He was defensive coordinator for the Rams in 2020.
