Former Palm Desert High school golf star Charlie Reiter earned his first professional tournament victory Thursday with a wire-to-wire victory in the Asher Tour's Legacy Classic in Phoenix.

Leading by one shot with two holes to play, Reiter finished his round at the par-71 Legacy Golf Club with a birdie on the 17th hole and an eagle on the par-5 18th. That capped a 7-under 64 for Reiter, giving him a four-shot victory over Keith Gordon of Canada and Chris Riley of San Diego, a former PGA Tour player and Reiter's former head coach at the University of San Diego.

Reiter, who played earlier this year on the PGA Tour Canada, finished the three-day tournament at 22-under 191 to win the $10,000 first-place check. Reiter was a co-leader after 18 holes with a 64, but took the lead alone with the second-round 63, including a 6-under 29 on the back nine. Reiter posted six birdies, one eagle and a bogey in his final round.

In addition to playing on the PGA Tour Canada this summer, Reiter played in the PGA's The American Express tournament three times, the first when he was still a senior at Palm Desert High School. In 2022 he played in his first major championship when he qualified for the U.S. Open.

The Asher Tour, formerly known as the Golden State Tour, plays a series of tournaments in Arizona, California and Nevada.
