Former Kentucky basketball star Rajon Rondo was arrested Sunday in Indiana.

Rondo was booked on charges involving the unlawful possession of a firearm, drug paraphernalia and marijuana. According to WDRB, which was first to report the news, citing court records and a spokesman for the Indiana State Police, Rondo was stopped for a traffic violation in Jackson County, Indiana, between Indianapolis and Louisville. The officer who stopped Rondo reportedly smelled marijuana, which led to a search of his vehicle. While searching, the officer located a gun, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, ISP spokesman Sgt. Stephen Wheeles told IndyStar on Tuesday. Rondo was not permitted to carry a gun due to a protective order.

In May 2022, he reportedly pulled a gun on his family during an argument at their Louisville home. The mother of Rondo's children, Ashley Bachelor, was granted an emergency protective order against him after the incident. One month later, a judge dismissed the EPO, however, Rondo was still prohibited from having a gun, according to Wheeles.

Rondo paid a bond and was released. A juvenile in Rondo’s vehicle at the time of the stop was released to a family member.

Rondo will be scheduled for a court appearance in Jackson County Superior Court.

Rondo, a 37-year-old Louisville, Kentucky, native, played two seasons at Kentucky then 16 years in the NBA, winning championships with the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.
