Former New Mexico State CB Andre Seldon is set to visit Texas A&M

After falling 31-23 to the No. 20 Oklahoma State Cowboys in the TaxAct Texas Bowl on Wednesday night, what became even more apparent was the lack of experience and overall depth at the cornerback position, as several 2023 starters have entered the transfer portal, leaving the position completely bare.

Even though the freshman duo consisting of Jayvon Thomas and Bravion Rogers still have bright futures in the program, both were readily exposed play after play, allowing Oklahoma State quarterback Alen Bowman to pass for 402 yards and two touchdowns on the night.

With new head coach Mike Elko watching in the booth, he knows that after landing seven players from the portal, including plug-and-play cornerback Will Lee Jr., even more production at the position is sorely needed. After striking out on several portal corners this month, good news may be on the horizon.

According to On3, former New Mexico State cornerback Andre Seldon Jr. is set to visit Texas A&M very soon, as the departure of head coach Jerry Kill has now resulted in 30-plus players entering the transfer portal. Standing at 5’9′ and weighing over 190 pounds, Seldon, who transferred from Michigan after his 2021 freshman season, recorded 52 tackles (36 solo tackles), seven pass deflections, and an interception during his redshirt sophomore season.

Already receiving a bevy of offers, A&M likely offers everything Seldon is looking for in a new program and immediately has the opportunity to compete for a starting position as soon as next season.

New Aggies CB coach Ishmail Aristide may be the perfect fit with his lengthy development resume if that’s the case.
