Former Jackson State football linebacker Aubrey Miller Jr. cut by Miami Dolphins

Former Jackson State linebacker Aubrey Miller Jr. was cut by the Miami Dolphins on Monday. He joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent May 12, and appeared to have been having a good camp, drawing the notice of several coaches for his sideline-to-sideline hustle.

Miller was named to the 2022 Athlon Sports All-America first team and received a second-team nod to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) FCS All-America team. He was The SWAC Defensive Player of the Year; a BOXTOROW HBCU All-American and National Defensive Player of the Year; and named Associated Press FCS All-America and Stats Perform FCS All-America.

Miller's next shot is either to be invited to the Dolphins' practice squad or catch the eye of another team.

Last year, former Jackson State linebacker James Houston, who was drafted in the sixth round (No. 217) by the Detroit Lions, was on their practice squad until the ninth game of the season, when he was activated on Thanksgiving to face the Buffalo Bills.
