Former Cowboys WR Ventell Bryant suspended for two games
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Ventell Bryant was arrested for a DUI in March of 2020. but that wasn’t the end of his tenure with the club. Waived in October, he later landed with the Carolina Panthers and is now facing a two-game suspension to begin the 2021 season as punishment for his arrest.
Police video showed Bryant being arrested for blood-alcohol levels exceeding the 0.08 limit. Bryant faced a misdemeanor charge for the incident.
Bryant was an undrafted free agent coming out of Temple and earned his way onto the Bengals roster in 2019 before being waived that August. Dallas signed Bryant to their practice squad in September of 2019 and he was activated after special teams player after safety Kavon Frazier went down with an injury.
Bryant appeared in 12 games in 2019, and had a 15-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Dak Prescott in a loss to the Bills on Thanksgiving. Bryant was a consistent special teams contributor during the 2019 season, totaling six tackles.
Carolina signed the Florida native to their practice squad late last season and he earned a reserve contract for 2021. With a two-game suspension, Bryant will have to wait until Week 3 against the Texans to make his 2021 season debut, with a potential return to play against Dallas coming in Week 4 if he makes their club.
