Former Arizona Cardinal Chandler Jones arrested, released by Raiders

Former Arizona Cardinals All-Pro pass rusher Chandler Jones, who signed a three-year deal with the Raiders prior to last season, was arrested for reportedly violating domestic violence temporary protective order in Las Vegas.

He was arrested on Thursday at 11 p.m., according to Clark County records.

Jones, 33, was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list by the Raiders on Sept. 20 and has not appeared in any games for the team this season. The Raiders released him on Saturday.

His arrest follows a series of cryptic social media posts and videos by Jones in which he criticizes Raiders coach Josh McDaniels, General Manager Dave Ziegler and team owner Mark Davis.

“The Raiders are hopeful that Chandler Jones receives the care that he needs,” the Raiders said in a statement released on Friday. “He, his family, and all those involved are in our thoughts. As this is now a legal matter, we will not be providing further comment.

The Cardinals acquired Jones from the Patriots in 2016 for guard Jonathan Cooper and a second-round pick. Jones had 71½ sacks and 80 tackles for loss during his time in Arizona.
