Former Alabama Safety Commits to Nebraska

On Sunday morning, a former Alabama safety announced that he has committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers for the upcoming 2022 season. Kaine Williams was a four-star defensive back out of Marrero, Louisiana, who was a member of the Alabama 2021 recruiting class. According to recruiting website Rivals, Willaims was the seventh-ranked prospect in the state, the 11th ranked safety, and the 172nd ranked prospect for the entire 2021 class.  He signed with ‘Bama over other SEC schools such as Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

During his year in Tuscaloosa, Williams appeared in only one game, the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, covering kickoffs on special teams. He officially entered the transfer portal on April 25th and is the 18th Alabama player to enter the portal either during or after the season. It was back on May 2nd that the defensive back announced he would visit Nebraska the weekend of May 13-15, and it was during that visit, that Williams made his official commitment.
