Florida State softball's Sandercock, Alameda named ACC Pitcher and Coach of the Year

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.Florida State pitcher Kathryn Sandercock was named the ACC Pitcher of the Year, and Head Coach Lonni Alameda was named the ACC Coach of the Year by the conference on Wednesday afternoon. The Noles also put an ACC-leading eight players on the All-ACC first, second and third teams. This matches a school record as the Seminoles also put eight players on the All-ACC teams in 2022 and in 1995.

Coach Alameda picked up her sixth ACC Coach of the Year award and her first since 2017. In total the Seminoles have now won 12 ACC Coach of the Year awards as the great JoAnne Graf also won six ACC Coach of the Year awards. Alameda guided the Seminoles through one of the toughest schedules in the country as the Seminoles played 20 games against ranked opponents, 19 of those games which were on the road. The Seminoles went 14-6 against ranked foes and cruised through a tough ACC schedule on their way to their 14th ACC Regular Season Championship.

Sandercock is just the seventh Florida State pitcher to be named the ACC Pitcher of the Year, and the Seminoles' first winner since Kylee Hanson in 2018. The senior from McLean, Va., was terrific in ACC play posting a perfect 14-0 record. Sandercock ended ACC play with a 1.03 ERA over the course of 74.2 innings.

The Seminoles put four players on the All-ACC Second Team as Michaela Edenfield, Devyn Flaherty, Kaley Mudge and Makenna Reid were all named to the team. This is the third consecutive season Flaherty has been named to an All-ACC team and the second straight year that Mudge and Edenfield have been named to one of the All-ACC Teams. Reid picks up her first All-ACC honor, and she was also named to the All-Freshmen Team.

Kalei Harding and Mack Leonard each were named the All-ACC Third Team as they picked up All-ACC honors for the second consecutive season.

The Seminoles will begin their quest for their 19th ACC Tournament Championship at 11 a.m. on Thursday against either Syracuse or Virginia.
