Florida State soccer earns No. 1 seed in NCAA Tournament, will face Morehead State in first round

Following an undefeated season and its fourth straight ACC Championship, Florida State women's soccer has earned the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

FSU (16-0-1) face Morehead State at home on Friday at 5 p.m.

The Seminoles are one of four No. 1 seeds in the tournament along with Clemson, BYU and UCLA.

What this means for FSU is that every game that it qualifies for, up to the College Cup, will be at Seminole Soccer Complex. The College Cup is Dec. 1 to 4 in WakeMed Soccer in Cary, North Carolina.

The winner of the Seminoles first-round matchup will face Texas A&M or Colorado in the second round.

Second-round games will be held on Friday, Nov. 17 and Sunday, Nov. 19. Quarterfinal games will be held on Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25.

The Seminoles' opponent, Morehead State, defeated Tennessee Tech, 1-0, to win the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament and earn an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament.

Including FSU, five ACC teams made it into the tournament: FSU, Clemson, North Carolina, Pitt and Notre Dame. Each team is also hosting a first-round game.

The Seminoles may see Texas A&M again if both teams advance to the second round. FSU defeated the Aggies, 2-1, in the first game of the season in College Station.

General admission tickets will go on sale Tuesday at 9 a.m. The first 100 FSU students with their student ID will get in free. Fans can purchase tickets and seminoles.com/tickets.

This is the Seminoles' 24th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and are 23-1 all-time in first-round matchups. 2004 was the only year that FSU lost in the first round, falling to Boston College in PKs.
