Florida showered with votes in AP Poll after big Auburn win

Todd Golden’s Florida basketball squad appears to be rounding into form a little past the halfway point of the Southeastern Conference schedule. Winners of five of their last six — including a recent home win over the highly-ranked Auburn Tigers — his team is finally back in the polls.

The Associated Press Poll’s Week 15 edition saw the Gators grab a fistful of votes following the massive home win, earning 19 after going voteless the past two weeks. Florida had last earned six votes in the Week 12 update on Jan. 22, which was the only time other than the pair in the Week 1 update on Oct. 16 that the Orange and Blue earned recognition.

The SEC schools included among the top 25 teams are the eighth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers, followed by the South Carolina Gamecocks (No. 11), Auburn (No. 13), Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 15) and Kentucky Wildcats (No. 22). The Texas A&M Aggies also earned 16 votes while the Ole Miss Rebels earned 12.

Next up for the Gators are the LSU Tigers, who come to Gainesville to take on Florida inside the O’Connell Center on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
