Florida High two-sport star, FSU football commitment Danzy recovering from thigh injury
Florida High football coach Jarrod Hickman is uncertain if star senior running back Micahi Danzy will return this season.
Danzy, who verbally committed last July to Florida State, has missed the Seminoles’ past two games with a left thigh injury.
“He’s out indefinitely right now – we just have to wait and see,” Hickman told the Democrat Saturday.
“Micahi has a bright future and we are going to do what’s best for him.”
Danzy, also a nationally-ranked sprinter, was injured in the Seminoles’ 31-28 win at Ocala Trinity Catholic Sept. 29.
He has missed the past two games at Tampa Carrollwood Day (37-7 defeat) Oct. 6 and Friday’s 35-7 win over Godby.
The Seminoles (5-2) have battled a rash of injuries this season, missing as many as seven starters for games.
“It’s just been a weird year in terms of injuries,” Hickman said.

Danzy’s production will be difficult to duplicate as Florida High, a Class 2S state finalist in 2022, heads into the final month of the regular season.
Danzy, with nearly 600 rushing yards, averaged 9.5 yards per carry with 1,809 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns last season.
Danzy, a 6-foot-1, 175-pounder, is also the reigning Class 2A state champion in the 200- and 400-meter dash and USATF National Junior Olympic Champion in the 400.
Danzy committed to the Seminoles after considering offers from Florida and Miami, among others. He's one of two running backs in FSU's 2024 signing class, which is currently ranked sixth nationally by recruiting analysts.
Danzy entered the season rated as the 191st-best prospect nationally, according to 247 Sports, and No. 13 in the state.
"He is a player that can flip field in one play or score from anywhere on the field," Osceola recruiting analyst Patrick Burnham said.
"While he is listed as an athlete, we project that Danzy will used primarily at running back but is versatile enough to be used the same way (current FSU running back) Lawrance Toafili is now."
Florida High is at home Friday against Rickards, and close the regular season against fellow District 3 member Marianna and Lincoln.
The Class 2S Seminoles are 2-0 in District 3 with wins over Godby and Gadsden County.
