Florida remains outside CBS Sports’ bracketology bubble after 3-game skid

Todd Golden’s team is in the midst of a three-game losing streak that followed its signature win of the season against the Tennessee Volunteers are the start of February. Two of Florida’s victorious opponents were tough teams playing on their home court — the Alabama Crimson Tide and Kentucky Wildcats, respectively — while the third loss came at home against a very mediocre Vanderbilt Commodores squad.

Some of the bracketology gurus were willing to look past the first two losses, keeping the Gators firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble as the losses piled up. However, CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm had already been bearish on the Gators, sending the Orange and Blue packing in his previous update and the defeat at the hands of Vandy was too much for him to reconsider his position.

The projected final 64 teams include six from the Southeastern Conference, with Alabama (No. 1 seed), Tennessee (No. 4), Missouri Tigers (No. 4), Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 10), Auburn Tigers (No. 10) and Mississippi State Bulldogs (No. 11) making the cut. The Ole Miss Rebels are in the Last Four In tier while Kentucky and the Texas A&M Aggies are among the First Four Out.

Next up for Florida is Ole Miss, which comes to Gainesville to take on the Gators inside the O’Connell Center on Wednesday, Feb. 15. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST and can be either watched on the SEC Network or heard on the Gator Sports Network.
