Florida basketball cracks AP top 25 for first time in Golden era

A new edition of the Associated Press Poll was released on Monday afternoon, and with just a handful of games until the SEC tournament, the Florida basketball program is finally back in the top 25.

The Gators just barely cracked the list, but they’re standing tall at No. 24.

This marks the program’s first top 25 ranking under head Todd Golden and ends the top 25 drought in the poll dating back to Dec. 6, 2021.

The Gators earned their way back by winning seven of their last eight games, including two monumental upsets against Kentucky on the road and against the Auburn Tigers inside the O’Connell Center.

Florida is currently riding a three-game win streak after recently toppling the Georgia Bulldogs by six points, 88-82.

Head coach Todd Golden and Co. are prepping for its next road matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Wednesday night. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET and the game will broadcast on ESPN2.
