Field hockey to soccer, QBs to coaches: Meet the Tiverton Athletics Hall of Fame nominees

TIVERTON – Seven individuals and one team are set to be inducted into the Tiverton High School Athletics Hall of Fame on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m.at McGovern's Family Restaurant in Fall River.

The individuals are Dennis Bouchard, Class of 1977; Chris Smith, 1979; Craig Reis, 1997; Kristin Pimental Riddle, 2001; Melissa Camara Rosinha, 2002; Ashley Miranda, 2005; Gerald Arcouette, coach/contributor/supporter.

The team induction honors the 1988 state championship boys' soccer team.

DENNIS BOUCHARD, 1977

Bouchard made his impact, both literally and figuratively, on the football field and was selected first team all division in both 1975 and 1976. He was selected as the school's outstanding male athlete for 1976-77.

KRISTIN PIMENTAL RIDDLE, 2001

A three-sport (field hockey, basketball, softball) athlete, Pimental is one of the school's all-time best in field hockey. She capped her career with a stellar senior season which earned her all-state honor.

ASHLEY MIRANDA, 2005

A multi-sport athlete, she was all state in field hockey junior and senior years and played a key role in the Tigers early-2000 championship runs. She was named Tiverton's outstanding female athlete for the 2004-05 school year.

CHRIS SMITH, 1979

Smith earned all-league honors junior and senior year as a baseball catcher and was all-league quarterback/defensive back in football as a senior. He was also a hard-nosed sixth man in basketball.

CRAIG REIS, 1997

Reis quarterbacked the 1996 Super Bowl team, earning second team all-state honors in the process. And in baseball, he was first team all-league to help the Tigers to win the league title.

MELISSA CAMARA ROSINHA, 2002

She earned second team all-state honors in both softball and field hockey. Talented, versatile and hard working, Camara was instrumental in Tiger teams capturing six championships.

1988 BOYS' SOCCER TEAM

Coming off a D2 state title the year before, the '88 Tigers repeated with a 21-0-3 record. The 21 victories set a school record. Team members were Tom Murray, Dan Dufresne, Bob Helger, Sean Golden, Chris Skrzpiec, George Milot, Chris Costa, Javier Ascoz, Mike Taylor, Steve Tavares, Craig Committo, Greg Osborne, Jason Mello, Bob Vincent, Shane Ayotte, Greg Hibbert, Mark Tavares, Doug Decubellis, Chris Fernandes, statisticians Kathy O'Neil and Julie Fernandes, head coach Jim Cook, and assistant coach Mike Stinton.

GERALD ARCOUETTE

Though best known for his many years as boys' successful basketball head coach, Arcouette is also remembered for encouraging student-athletes in all sports. His 2011 basketball team made a run to state finals of the Rhode Island Open Tournament.
