Fantasy Friday: Miami Dolphins to start and drop for week three

Jarvis Landry over Jace Amaro seems obvious today
Jarvis Landry over Jace Amaro seems obvious today

For each week of the NFL season, we here at the Miami Dolphins cover32 site will be providing some fantasy football advice. Taking a look at two players every week, we will attempt to aid all fantasy players in their weekly roster selections with one start and one drop from the Miami Dolphins weekly roster.

Dropping last Sunday’s game at New England, the Dolphins did give us some areas to be happy about. The team in the second half played absolutely stellar football and almost pulled off one of the most improbable comebacks ever. Using that momentum, can that success find its way into Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns?

QB Rankings: Cam Newton #1 after two weeks

Start — Jarvis Landry — Wide Receiver

The return of DeVante Parker definitely helped Jarvis Landry last week. Making ten catches for 137-yards last week, Landry had one of the best games for a Dolphins’ receiver in a while. With Parker and Stills again in the lineup with Landry, the star wide receiver should have another great game this week against the Cleveland Browns.

Taking on a struggling Browns team, Landry should have even more chances to succeed. Though he hasn’t recorded a touchdown catch as of yet, this could be the week for Landry to finally get his name in the scoring column. In fact, I’ll even make a prediction right now that Landry has two touchdown receptions during the contest.

Add to this the fact that the Dolphins’ are relying heavily on their passing game so far this season and Landry should have plenty of chances in the passing game this week.

Drop — Jay Ajayi and Arian Foster — Running Back

Arian Foster’s drop this week is pretty self explanatory. He’s hurt again and the team is unsure of his status for Sunday’s game. With Foster suffering a hamstring problem last week during practice and a groin injury on Sunday, Foster will likely remain a drop player for at least the next few weeks.

As far as Jay Ajayi goes, his drop is directly related to the poor performance of the rushing attack thus far this season. Over the first two weeks of the season, the Miami Dolphins have recorded a total of 134-yards rushing, or less than 70 per game.

Given the poor state of the Dolphins’ rushing attack, this is not the week to take a risk and start a Miami Dolphins’ running back. There is likely a better player currently unsigned in your fantasy league for this week than either Jay Ajayi or Arian Foster.
