Falcons rookie Tyler Allgeier tops 1,000 all-purpose yards for season

It takes a few years to accurately judge a team’s draft class, but the Atlanta Falcons nailed their fifth-round pick in 2022. Former BYU running back Tyler Allgeier has been everything fans hoped he would be, and more this season.

The rookie added another notch to his belt during Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. After rushing for a touchdown to give the Falcons an early lead, Allgeier topped 1,000 all-purpose yards for the season in the third quarter against the Cardinals.

Currently, Allgeier has 862 rushing yards and and 139 receiving yards (1,001 total) this season.

It’s now the second year in a row that a Falcons rookie has topped the 1,000-yard mark. Tight end Kyle Pitts went over 1,000 receiving yards in 2021.

The Falcons currently trail 16-14 to the Cardinals in the third quarter.
