Fairmont's Mountain Magic represented West Virginia in Battle of the Champions in Toledo

Jan. 26—FAIRMONT — Mountain Magic Gymnastics Team traveled to Toledo, Ohio for the Battle of Champions on Jan. 12 and 13 at the Glass City Convention Center.

According to a press release from team Head Coach Gary Rafaloski, Mountain Magic represented West Virginia and competed against teams from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania. Gymnasts from levels three, four, five, six, eight, nine and 10 all took part in the event.

The level eight and level 10 teams both placed third in the team standings. In level eight, Brooke Naternicola finished second overall in AA with a score of 35.725. Ella Harvey placed fifth overall with a 31.7. Addy Barnes also competed.

Sophia Balko led the level 10 team with a third place finish, scoring a 35.1 overall and scored an 8.45 on the bars. Allie Howell followed with a fifth place finish, and Anna Bowsher placed sixth. Kylie Bowsher also competed.

In level six, Kendall Paugh scored 36.85 overall to place third. Serena Williams and Lily Harvey also competed in level six. Williams finished sixth in vault and scored a 9.15 on beam. Harvey scored an 8.725 on floor.

Markley White represented Mountain Magic in level nine by herself. She scored an 8.1 on the beam.

The level three team had three members place in the Top 6 overall. Ember Rager scored 34.6 overall and placed fifth. Adalyn Marble and Abby Poole both placed sixth with scores of 34.975 and 34.1, respectively. Nora Griffen, Kierstyn Pevlar, Roslyn Evans and Brianna Hauser also competed.

Hynlee Toth led the level five team with a fifth place finish, scoring 35.00 overall. She placed fifth on both bars and floor and scored 9.05 on beam. Kendall Davis and Reese Commodore also competed.

The level four team had six competitors, but none finished in the Top 6. Josie Gust scored 8.55 on vault and 9.2 on floor. Caroline Feltz scored 8.8 on vault and 9.225 on floor. Isabella Bombard and Lucia Scalise scored 9.1 and 9.05 in floor, respectively. Laurel Long scored a 9.225 on beam. And Annabelle Kennedy scored 8.35 on vault.

"We're still working towards better consistency in practices that will result in better performances at the meets," Rafaloski said in the release.

Mountain Magic's next meet will be the Rainbow Classic in Waynesboro, Pa.
