All about Jazmine: no concerts, lots of cookie dough

Tell us something most people don't know about you.

I played competitive gymnastics for a year when I was 10.

What do you consider to be the world's greatest invention?

If I had to choose just one, it would be the car.

If you could only have one dessert for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Cookie dough.

If you could attend any concert, who would you see?

Here's a fun fact: I've never been to a concert. But if I had the chance, I would have liked to have seen Michael Jackson or J. Cole.

What do you plan to do after high school?

I plan to go play and further my education at the University of Louisiana. At first I wanted to go into the Big Ten or Pac-12 but realized I just wanted to go somewhere where it felt like home. I visited Louisiana and I did the broken leg test. I asked myself, if I got hurt, would I want to stay? And the answer was yes.

On that volleyball life: dance party days

How did you get started playing competitive volleyball?

My story would be that at a young age, I always loved playing sports, but my favorites were gymnastics, basketball and volleyball. Before I became serious about volleyball, I wanted to be a competitive gymnast, but, realizing how expensive it was, I stuck to volleyball and basketball. My mom was the one who saw how good I was at a young age and wanted to move from rec play to club to see if I would like it.

What has been your favorite volleyball memory at Anderson?

It would be when we won district my sophomore year and also this year when we played against (Katy) Tompkins. We had a dance party with them before the game and that was really fun.

Do you have any pregame rituals?

I have one weird pregame ritual. If it's a home game, I have to do a one-box jump in the weight room.

Anderson senior Jazmine Gaston was a competitive gymnast in her earlier days. One of her favorite memories was winning the district championship when she was a sophomore.

Dream dinner: And for dessert, a concert

If you could have dinner with four people in the history of the world, who would they be?

I'm going to pick Kobe Bryant, Michael Jackson, Zendaya and Rihanna.

Why Michael?

Because I hope he'd put on a mini concert for us.
