Second round surprise

14:15 , Mike Jones

Ramsgate have already had a crazy run this year’s FA Cup, coming through qualifying beating Chatham Town, Cray Wanders, Totton and now Woking in the first round proper to reach the second round of the FA Cup.

They last reached the first-round proper back in 2005 but have never got as far as this in the tournament.

Ramsgate are a small seaside football team from Kent and a home tie in the second round would sell out the 2,500-capacity Southwood Stadium.

A favourable tie could also see Ramsgate possibly go up against Premier League opposition if they successfully get to the third round.

Chesterfield defeat Portsmouth

14:14 , Mike Jones

It’s an FA Cup shock as the national league leaders, Chesterfield, have defeated the League One leaders, Portsmouth, and are heading into the second round!

Tom Naylor’s goal was enough to inflict defeat on Pompey who had not lost to non-league opposition in nine years. Chesterfield will now be eagerly awaiting the second round draw to see who they’ll face at the next stage.

When will the FA Cup second round games be played?

14:10 , Mike Jones

The FA Cup resumes in the first round proper this weekend with Football League and non-league clubs continuing their journey.
