Ex-Ohio State coach Urban Meyer didn't feel bad running up the score on Michigan football

He knew his answer would create some buzz.

During his appearance on Tuesday on "The Dan Patrick Show," former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer was asked if he felt bad running up the score against Michigan football.

See, there's no "safe" answer here. If he says yes, he's looked at having remorse for his chief rival.

But you know he didn't say that.

"This is gonna create a lot of headlines, but no," Meyer said.

During his seven seasons in Columbus, Meyer was 7-0 against U-M. Of those wins, four of them were by double digits. The biggest one, and the one referenced by Patrick in the interview, was in 2018, when the Buckeyes cruised to a 62-39 victory.

Patrick asked the question a different way, wondering if Meyer actually tried to run up the score on the Wolverines.

"How can I answer this politically correct," Meyer said. "Our players work (for) that game every year, and when they get a chance to play, I'm not going to tell them to slow down."

Now one of the analysts for Fox's college football coverage, Meyer makes no bones about holding true to the Ohio State ethos. He goes out of his way to not say the word "Michigan" during his time on the two-hour pregame show.

Some rivalries never go away.
