Ex-Knicks Star Mark Jackson Rejoins Media World With New Podcast

Mark Jackson is penetrating a new lane in the media realm. The former star point guard is pivoting from NBA broadcasting to launch his own podcast with his son, Mark Jr.

The former Golden State Warriors coach plans to provide analysis on the latest happenings around the league while offering insight to untold stories and his personality as a man of faith. Set to debut Monday, The Mark Jackson Show will highlight the father-son dynamic with Mark Jr. (also known as Bluu) and will be distributed exclusively on the Come and Talk 2 Me media network.

Come and Talk 2 Me, which primarily houses its content on its YouTube channel, was co-founded by rappers Cam’ron and Mase. The New York rap duo separately have their own popular sports talk show It Is What It Is, which inked a deal with fantasy sports platform Underdog Fantasy last fall. Jackson, who was drafted by the New York Knicks and spent seven of his 18 NBA seasons with them, has combined forces with two of the most prominent New York hip hop artists ever.

“I’m just happy that Mark gave us the opportunity to do this,” Cam’ron said on the All The Smoke podcast in December.

This is new terrain for the former NBA All-Star, who transitioned smoothly after coaching the Warriors in 2014 to provide color commentary alongside Jeff Van Gundy and Mike Breen on ESPN. The network, though, parted ways with Jackson last summer as part of an on-air talent shakeup. The Brooklyn native reportedly was later slated to call Knicks games in a part time role for MSG Networks this season, but that arrangement never transpired.

Jackson is the latest former NBA player to launch his own media platform and joins a small group of standout basketball coaches to get into the podcast business. Former Denver Nuggets coach George Karl, former Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott and current Xavier coach Sean Miller have launched their own podcasts in recent years.
