Everything you need to know to follow Florida vs. Kentucky in SEC opener

The Florida Gators host their SEC East peers, the Kentucky Wildcats, on Saturday, Sept.10, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Orange and Blue, led by dual-threat quarterback Anthony Richardson, is ranked No. 19 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll and No. 12 in the AP Poll coming into Saturday’s matchup in the Swamp.

The Blue and White have their own multi-talented signal caller in Will Levis who brings his team into Gainesville ranked No. 20 in both respective polls.

Florida earned a huge jump into the rankings after an upset win over the visiting Utah Utes. Kentucky remained buoyant with an expected win over Miami (Ohio) to open the 2022 campaign. Take a look below to see what is in store for both schools’ second matchup of the season as the real gridiron test begins.

How to Watch

Here’s when and how you can tune into the game:

Roster Report

Long snapper Marco Ortiz joined the injury report this week and is one of five Gators out for Saturday’s contest against Kentucky. Replacing him is Rocco Underwood, and Chase Whitfield is in as the backup. Other than that change, Florida stayed relatively healthy through Week 1 and returns all offensive and defensive starters for Week 2.

The one addition to the depth chart is running back Lorenzo Lingard in the fourth-string spot behind Nay’Quan WrightMontrell Johnson Jr. and Trevor Etienne. He didn’t receive a carry after being left off the Week 1 chart, but was back in the gym the night of the victory. This could be a sign he’ll be in the mix this week against the Wildcats.

Another minor change worth noting is Ricky Pearsall has lone possession of the starting slot receiver spot. Trent Whittemore previously received an “OR” designation, but Pearsall was Richardson’s favorite target in Week 1 and is the clear No. 1 there.

Cornerback Jaydon Hill could be coming off the injury report in the next few weeks. Napier said Hill returned to practice and is expected to be back soon. – David Rosenberg

Gators Wire Composite Expert Prediction

In an about-face from last week’s predictions, the Gators Wire roundtable was unanimously in favor of a Florida win this time around. The confidence built after the Utah win last weekend plus the rash of suspensions and injuries plaguing Kentucky has us very optimistic about the Gators’ chances at home in Week 2.

The group’s narrowest prediction was a four-point win while the largest margin of victory was 11 points, which two of our respondents called for. The composite results in a one-touchdown victory for the Orange and Blue.
