Who are Erie County's Top Performers in District 10 high school sports from Sept. 11-16?

Each week through early November, the Erie Times-News will highlight Erie County's notable athletes during District 10's fall sports season.

Those who have excelled from Sept. 11-16 are:

Football

Ja’son Ellman, Mercyhurst Prep: The senior scored on offense (three rushing touchdowns), defense (tackle for a safety) and special teams (punt return) during the first half of the Lakers’ 72-0 road rout of Northwestern.

Joe Himes, Cathedral Prep: The Ramblers, in one of the longest games in PIAA history, outlasted Buffalo (New York) St. Francis 78-72 on his touchdown reception in the sixth round of overtime.

Skylar Olmstead, Union City: Touchdown runs of 61 and 23 yards highlighted his 203-yard effort on the ground for the Bears, who beat Iroquois 14-6.

Markus Lambert, Corry: His two touchdown receptions during the Beavers’ 23-point fourth quarter highlighted their 29-21 comeback victory at Harbor Creek.

Conner McChesney, Fort LeBoeuf: His touchdown and ensuing two-point conversion run was the difference for the Bison in their dramatic 36-35, triple-overtime victory vs. Fairview at Waterford.

Logan Lattimore, North East: His 84-yard interception return capped the Grapepickers’ 38-12 win over General McLane at Ted Miller Staidum.

Stephon Porter, McDowell: His three touchdowns in the first half helped the Trojans top Erie High 47-21 in the teams’ Region 6 opener at Veterans Stadium.

Boys soccer

Richard Lokole, Erie High: He was responsible for the Royals’ goal when they tied Warren at 1-all.

Mazmal Babiker, Erie High: He scored one goal and assisted on another when the Royals beat Sharon 3-1 in a non-region match.

Will Vanderweele, North East: His goal held up as the only offense when the Grapepickers defeated Girard 1-0. ... That was followed by his mammoth six-goal performance, which comprised one-third of the offense when the Grapepickers routed the Conneaut Eagles 18-3.

Sam Kightlinger, Iroquois: He assisted twice for the Braves when they beat the Eisenhower Knights 4-1.

Noah Handzel, Cathedral Prep: His five goals accounted for more than half of the offense when the Ramblers defeated District 9 Bradford 8-1.

Ali Hosseini, Fairview: He was responsible for half of the scoring for the Tigers when they beat General McLane 2-1.

Vladimir Garnica, Harbor Creek: His goal was one-fourth of the offense for the Huskies when they blanked Fort LeBoeuf 4-0.

Shea Weislogel, Mercyhurst Prep: He recorded two goals and an assist for the Lakers, who defeated the visiting Girard YellowJackets 5-0.

Alex Alicusic, McDowell: He accounted for all the offense during the Trojans’ 1-0 victory against the Erie High Royals.

Danny Lindenberger, Fairview: He recorded a goal and an assist for the Tigers when they tied Grove City at 3-all.

Cooper Robson, General McLane: His hat trick, plus two assists, accounted for half of the offense when the Lancers won 10-1 against Fort LeBoeuf.

Austin Armstrong, Harbor Creek: His header off a free kick in double overtime gave the Huskies a dramatic 2-1 victory vs. the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers.

Reed Yost, Seneca: He scored during the Bobcats’ 2-1 win against Eisenhower.

Girls soccer

Abbi Erion, Girard: She resumed her high-scoring ways for the YellowJackets with three goals and two assists during their 7-0 shutout of Iroquois. ... Earlier in the week, her two goals and two assists accounted for the brunt of the offense when Girard blanked Maplewood 5-0.

Olivia Dixon, Cathedral Prep: Her hat trick was all the offense the Ramblers needed for a 3-2 victory vs. St. Joseph’s. ... Before that match, she accounted for all of the offense when Prep beat the Fairview Tigers 2-1.

Sydney Rotko, General McLane: The Lakers blanked the visiting Mercer Mustangs 5-0 in large part from her two goals and two assists. ... McLane's star began her week with a six-goal performance during the team's 7-1 win over Warren.

Autumn Waid, Seneca: She scored each half for the Bobcats, who improved to 7-0 with a 5-0 victory at Eisenhower. ... Seneca got two goals from her during its earlier 4-1 win against North East.

Molly Taylor, Mercyhurst Prep: Her direct kick, one of three for the YellowJackets, was part of their 3-2 win over the host Girard YellowJackets.

Gabby Green, Fort LeBoeuf: She was in goal for the Bison when they beat the rival General McLane Lancers 1-0.

Mallory Hammill, Seneca: She was the goalkeeper of record for the Bobcats when they blanked Mercyhurst Prep 3-0.

Evelyn Bish, North East: Her hat trick, plus an assist, highlighted the Grapepickers’ 7-0 victory vs. the Greenville Trojans.

Kendra Frantz, Iroquois: She scored four goals and assisted on a fifth for the Braves, who beat West Middlesex 6-1.

Grace Gennuso, Fairview: She scored twice for the Tigers, who blanked their namesakes from Sharon 8-0.

Girls volleyball

Grace Sanfilippo, North East: She totaled 27 assists and six digs for the Grapepickers when they swept the Cochranton Cardinals ... North East's next match saw her record 34 assists and six digs during a sweep of McDowell.

Payton McCray, Corry: The backcourt starter for the Beavers finished with 32 assists and eight digs during their sweep of District 9 power Clarion Area. ... Later in the week, she racked up 45 assists when Corry defeated Warren in five sets.

Grace Abele, Iroquois: She led the Braves with 12 kills when they beat Tidioute Charter in four sets.

Emily Stafford, Seneca: Her double-double (11 kills and digs) were part of the Bobcats’ four-set victory vs. the Erie High Royals.

Addyson Greene, Fairview: She totaled 32 assists and nice aces during the Tigers’ five-set win over the Harbor Creek Huskies.

Katelynn Olmstead, Fort LeBoeuf: Her double-double (14 kills and 12 digs) helped the Bison beat Saegertown 27-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22. ... She also had a team-high nine kills, which aided the team's 25-20, 25-20, 25-21 victory over the Cathedral Prep Ramblers.

Alyssa Tingley, Union City: The Bears beat Erie First Christian in four sets with her backcourt aid of 30 assists and 10 digs.. ... Her 34 assists and seven aces also helped Union City beat the Jamestown (Pennsylvania) Muskies in four sets.

Colette Speros, Cathedral Prep: The freshman totaled 10 kills and seven aces for the Ramblers, whose sweep of Erie High was their first victory this season.

Lexie Radtke, McDowell: Her 13 kills and six digs helped the Trojans defeat Mercyhurst Prep in straight sets.

Courtney Eddy, Northwestern: She had 10 assists for the Wildcats, who swept Erie High in a non-region match.

Mila Gehrlein-Carpenter, Iroquois: She recorded 20 assists for the Braves when they beat Erie High in straight sets.

Ava Guzowski, Seneca: Her contributions on offense (six kills, 11 aces and 22 assists) helped the Bobcats beat Fairview in five sets.

Sophia Nestor, McDowell: Her team-high seven kills were part of the Trojans’ three-set sweep of the rival Cathedral Prep Ramblers.

Girls tennis

Mackenzie Bruce, Erie High: The Royals’ No. 3 singles starter was among their straight-set victors when they won 5-0 at Oil City.

Riley Gloystein, Erie High: The Royals’ No. 2 singles starter was one of three 6-0, 6-1 victors during their 4-1 Region 2 win vs. the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers. ... That was followed by her 6-3, 6-2 victory in the No. 2 singles, which doubled as the decisive third team point when Erie High recorded a vital 3-2 Region 2 win against McDowell at Frontier Park’s courts.

Sophia Glance, Cathedral Prep: Her competitive 7-5, 6-4 win in the No. 3 singles match contributed to the Ramblers’ 5-0 Region 2 win against the visiting Warren Dragons.

Paige Patsy, Cathedral Prep: The freshman’s straight-sets victory in No. 3 singles was a swing match for the undefeated Ramblers, whose 3-2 Region 2 victory dealt Fairview its initial loss.

Enisa Siljkovic, Erie High: Her 6-0, 6-0 victory in No. 1 singles also contributed to the Royals’ 4-1 non-region victory at Greenville.

Vivian Liu, Fairview: She won 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match of the Tigers’ 5-0 non-region dual victory at Hickory.

Boys golf

Tyler Allen, McDowell: He shot a 76 for the Trojans, who defeated Warren by one stroke for first place in a Region 6 mega match at Whispering Woods Golf Club.

Anthony LaBoda, Fairview: His 3-over par 75 was the lowest round for the Tigers, who won a Region 5 mega match at Beechwood Golf Club in Fairview Township.

Leyton Hassenplug, North East: He was a co-medalist (75) for the Region 5 mega match held at Fairview Township’s Beechwood Golf Club.

Joey Zahner, Union City: His nine-hole score of 54 was worth a team-high 8½ points for the Bears when they beat Titusville 22-18 in team-scoring dual at Union City Country Club.

Quinlan Magee, Union City: The host Bears won a Region 3 mega match in part because of his round of 90.

Girls golf

Anna Swan, North East: She was the individual medalist (34) for a Region 2 mega match at Whispering Woods Golf Club.

Cora Hirz, Fairview: Her nine-hole round of 43 was the lowest for the Tigers, who were team champions for a Region 2 mega match at Whispering Woods Golf Club.

Alexis Marsh, McDowell: She recorded a nine-hole round of 42, the lowest for a Region 3 mega match the Trojans also won at The Country Club of Meadville.

Lena Fuss, Mercyhurst Prep: Her round of 41 on Union City Country Club’s front nine helped the Lakers to a Region 2 mega match victory.

Boys cross country

Jude Hayes, Fairview: His first-place time of 18 minutes, 17 seconds was more than two minutes faster than the Tigers’ second-place runner when they beat Iroquois 18-40.

Aivan Vargas, North East: The Grapepickers beat Union City 16-47 with help from his first-place time of 12:58.

Ethan Webb, General McLane: His low time of 16:12 also led the Lancers to a 27-32 dual victory vs. the rival Fort LeBoeuf Bison.

Girls cross country

Isabel Owens, Fairview: She completed the Tigers’ Pleasant Ridge Park course in 22 minutes, 11 seconds, which helped them defeat Iroquois 23-34.

Samantha Abate, North East: She was the fastest runner (16:25) for a dual between the Grapepickers and the host Union City Bears.

Ella Wieczorek, General McLane: She was the only runner who cracked the 20-minute mark (19:50) when the Lancers beat the visiting Fort LeBoeuf Bison 20-36.

Girls water polo

Grace Tirak, McDowell: Her hat trick helped the Trojans to an 11-1 victory over the visiting Fairview Tigers.
