Epic Waste Management Phoenix Open overshadowed by drunken, unruly fans at TPC Scottsdale
The 2024 WM Phoenix Open was a classic that ended with Nick Taylor rallying to win the title in a playoff finish after getting birdies on three of his final four holes to make the playoff against Charley Hoffman.
But Taylor's amazing finish is unfortunately being overshadowed by the behavior of some drunken and unruly fans at the TPC Scottsdale over the weekend.
And there were definitely some wild fans.
The WM Phoenix Open has always prided itself on providing a fun, party-like atmosphere.
But the party atmosphere went too far in 2024, casting a cloud over the extremely popular PGA Tour event.
The event was marred by fans behaving badly, with videos and pictures of those fans being spread on social media throughout the tournament.

It’s obvious 2023 was the high water mark for the WM Phoenix Open. By all means have a good time at the tournament, but not to the point where the fan’s behaviour has become the story. It’ll be interesting to see what this event looks like next year. pic.twitter.com/xH7F0yJfwp

WM Phoenix Open is great.
But if it keeps going in this direction, it’s gonna be tough to convince players to turn up every year..?

The Phoenix Open has massively jumped the shark this week. It has straddled a fine line for several years now, but how anybody can read all this (👇🏼) from the past few days and recognise it as a golf tournament is beyond me. Organisers have lost control. pic.twitter.com/VEozgmJAwX

Yes, not everyone was in a drunken frenzy at the Phoenix Open, but the few sure made a big impact on the tournament and left an impression in several golfers' minds.
Could the future of "The People's Open" be very different because of the actions of some people over the weekend?
