Edmonton Oilers vs. Dallas Stars: Predictions, odds for Western Conference Finals Game 1

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are down to the conference final round. In the Western Conference, the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars are vying for a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Oilers are in the conference finals for the second time in the last three seasons. They've been one of the more prolific teams in the playoffs; Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid, and Evan Bouchard rank first, second, and third, respectively, in points per game in the playoffs. Edmonton won two elimination games in the second round against the Vancouver Canucks to make it to the conference finals.

This is the first time these two teams have met in the playoffs since 2003. Dallas has won the last five playoff series between these two franchises.

NHL Western Conference Finals: Edmonton Oilers vs. Dallas Stars Game 1 predictions

StatSalt: Dallas money line

James Boutros writes: "Both teams have an excellent offense but the Stars head into the West Finals with a significant goaltending edge. Jake Oettinger has been outstanding in the playoffs... Dallas’ high-powered offense will take advantage of [Stuart] Skinner’s poor goaltending play and score a bunch of goals on Edmonton."

ClutchPoints: Edmonton +1.5

Robert Hayek says: "The Stars have done a lot of good things to get here. However, it is difficult to ignore the fact that they have lost Game 1 twice at home... Expect this game to go down to the wire, with each team vying for victory. But the Oilers have the pedigree to get the job done and steal this game on the road."

PicksWise: Dallas wins

Joe Williams writes: "The Oilers now head to the Metroplex to battle the Stars, a team which won two of the three regular-season meetings by a combined score of 12-7. That includes a 5-0 beatdown on April 3 at American Airlines Center... The Stars have been getting solid goaltending from Jake Oettinger, and that should continue in this series."
