Eagles’ Jalen Hurts with wonderful deed to family with child battling cancer

Alex’s Lemonade Stand has been raising funds for families with children battling cancer for 20-plus years. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts wanted to get involved and he did in an amazing way.

Hurts learned of a childhood cancer hero named Erick and got to know him and his family, which has four other children.

Hurts became more aware of all the challenges the family faced, which were heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic.

And Hurts went to visit the family in Nottingham, Pa. He played ball with Erick and delivered a huge surprise — call it a holiday gift — to the family.

Watch the emotions flow as Hurts presents a check for $30,000.

Hurts wore cleats paying tribute to Alex’s Lemonade Stand during an Eagles game Dec. 6. The cleats were specially designed and featured Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).

The promotion was part of the #MyCauseMyCleats campaign. The campaign gives NFL players a chance to select a charity near and dear to their hearts. Then the players represent the charity by wearing special cleats on the field. The ALSF cleats put childhood cancer in the national spotlight, raising awareness of the need for more research, safer treatments, and cures.

This year has given us a lot of lemons, but Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has continued to make lemonade. For #MyCauseMyCleats, I am proud to support their mission to change the lives of children with cancer through funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families, and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer. Since founder, Alex Scott, held her first lemonade stand in 2000, the Foundation has funded more than 1,000 cutting-edge childhood cancer research projects at nearly 150 institutions. They also have a travel program to help support families of children receiving treatment and offer resources to help people everywhere affected by childhood cancer. @alexslemonade . Love 🤞🏾💛

The former Alabama and Oklahoma star wears No. 2 but after this wonderful gesture he will surely be No. 1 in the hearts of Eagles fans and the City of Brotherly Love.
