Warriors top Rockets late in wild finish, 104-100, to take 1-0 series lead

Behind Kevin Durant’s 35 points, the Golden State Warriors topped the Houston Rockets, 104-100, in a wild finish that saw Chris Paul get ejected in the game’s closing seconds.

In the game’s waning seconds, Paul stole the ball from Durant and kicked it to James Harden for a chance to tie the game at 103 with a 3-pointer. Harden missed the 3-point attempt and Paul caught the offensive rebound.

Paul was pushed out of bounds for the turnover and received a technical foul, his second, which ejected him from the game. Curry made the technical free throw to ice the game.

Durant added five rebounds and three assists in the Warriors win. Steph Curry contributed an additional 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Despite the missed three, Harden led the Rockets with 35 points on 9-of-28 shooting, 4-of-16 from the 3-point line. Harden added an additional four rebounds and six assists in the loss.

Eric Gordon added 27 points and four rebounds for the Rockets on 10-of-19 shooting, 4-of-13 from three.

The two teams will play again on Tuesday, April 30.
