German third division club Dynamo Dresden have filed a complaint with the police after team captain Stefan Kutschke became the target of a death threat.

"On Friday, 5 April 2024, Stefan Kutschke was massively attacked by a threatening letter. In the letter, the Dynamo Dresden team captain and his family members received extreme hostility and were also confronted with warnings and even murder," a club statement said.

Dresden said that Kutschke and club officials have been abused on various social media channels lately.

"As a sports community, we are always open to criticism. However, certain boundaries must be observed. These were clearly exceeded in the case of Stefan Kutschke," Dresden's communications managing director David Fischer said.

"We condemn such behaviour in the strongest possible terms and will react to it with the utmost severity."
