JASON FITZ: it's time for Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda with quarterback prospect fits. And Drake Maye, could they, the Patriots? Heck, yeah. There's a very real scenario where Drake Maye is sitting there at number three. You've got Alex Van Pelt coming in as an offensive coordinator that wants to run a Kevin Stefanski-like offense. Drake is fully capable of doing that. He's more mobile than he gets credit for. He can throw the ball quickly on time and in rhythm. This makes a ton of sense for New England. While they have a lot of holes, and I'm not sure that they aren't a quarterback-ruiner for anybody, I can understand the logic, in that AFC, of saying, got to have a quarterback, got to have a guy, especially when you're stepping in Belichick's shoes.

So should they? Well, the answer for should they is, almost everybody, the Giants, the Raiders, the Broncos-- if you go up and down the list of teams that need a quarterback, a few months ago, Drake Maye was presumed by many to still be the top overall quarterback in this year's class. For whatever reason, he's dipped in the eyes of some. That dip gives value. And if you have a chance of getting a guy that you know can run multiple offenses and has his skill set, you do.

And that brings us to they. Would the Giants make this move? I think it makes a ton of sense. Look at his body type. And then look at Josh Allen. He's about the same height. He's about an inch shorter. And he weighs about 7 pounds less than Josh Allen. That's substantially heavier than a quarterback than, let's say, Jayden Daniels. So if you're Brian Daboll, and you're coming in, and you know the type of quarterback you want the chance to develop, you know exactly how to work with a big-bodied quarterback that's mobile, that's not afraid of contact, and that can throw the football. Well, you get opportunity to do that with Drake Maye. We all know, at this point, Daniel Jones isn't the answer. Moving up to get Drake Maye makes perfect sense for them.
